In the Guianas and in Brazil (outside the Highland area) are many specimens which seem intermediate between Lygodium volubilc and L. micans. The hairs on the sterile segments of these specimens are coarse and of restricted distribution like L. micans, but the specimens have the segment shape and size of L. volubile.
