Discussion:

The Tate material shows the decunent bases of the leaflets characteristic of Schefflera umbellata, to which Gleason originally refened it. This subspecies, duidana, has the 5-fid style of S. umbellata subsp. umbellata, but differs in the relatively smaller leaflets, shorter peduncles, and relatively more slender primary rays of the inflorescence.

Type. Summit, slopes of Ridge 25, Cerro Duida, 1650-1800 m alt, Territorio Amazonas, Venezuela, 16 Dec 1928, G. H . H . Tate 431 (holotype N Y ) .
