In addition to the type collected onRoraima, the species apparently is k n o w n by two collections: tree or shrub 2-4m , frequent in low Clusia-Oedematopus-Magnolia woodland, ridge east of M e saGrande, Ilu-tepui, 1650 m alt, Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, 9 M a r 1952, Maguire33323 ( N Y , V E N ) ; tree 8-12 m high, occasional in woodland, Serra do Sol (Ueitepui) at 6500 ft alt, Brazil, frontier between Territorio Rio Branco [Roraima]and Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, 28 Dec 1954, Maguire & Maguire 40387 (NY,M G , V E N ) .

Discussion:

Crepinella gracilis E. Marsh ex im Thum, Timehri 5, 1886; ex Oliver, Trans. Linn. Soc. Bot. 2: 275. 1887. Not S. gracilis (Miq.) Viguier, 1909, of Bomeo.

Type, im Thurn 162, Roraima (K).

The specimens of Sena do Sol have more coriaceous, obovate, obtuse leaflets and less open inflorescences than those from Ilu-tepui, which have thinner elliptic leaflets and strikingly m o r e open inflorescences. T h e two collections m a y well be demonstrated to represent distinct species.
