Generitype: U. filipcndulum (Martius) Moldenke.

Nothing can be added to the protologue of this interesting monotype, the fruit of which remains unknown. The multisepalate staminate perianth with valvate inner members places the genus securely, it seems, in tribe Triclisieae near Chondrodendron (to which it was referred by Diels) and Sciadotenia. We surmise that it may even prove to be a somewhat anomalous and outlying member of the latter genus.
