    Myrsine punctata (H.Lév.) Wilbur

  • Discussion

I refer to this species three specimens from the Dominican Republic, whose vegetative characteristics agree perfectly with the plants from the Bahamas: Serpentine barrens, 4 miles E of Caspar Hernandez, 28 Oct 1969, Alain Liogier 16544 (fruits); Cordillera de Yaroa, 2 Oct 1969, Alain Liogier 16221 (sterile); Villa Altagracia 19 Jan 1929, E. L. Ekman 11242 (flowers).

The Cuban specimens are nearly all either sterile or in fruit and probably represent an undescribed taxon. It is also very probable that some specimens may have to be referred to M. punctata. Until more complete coUections are available, the question has to remain unsolved.
