Description:Distribution and Ecology - One specimen from the Pedernales Peninsula clearly belongs to the Jamaican species; the free petals, the small oblong-obovate leaves are characteristic. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Hoyo de Pelempito, Baoruco Mts., Alain Liogier 16726 (NY, US, GH, P). This is the first record outside of Jamaica. A fruiting specimen from Cafiada de Rancho Nuevo, Pedernales to Las Mercedes, Alain Liogier 13841 in the same region can be considered as part of this taxon; also Holdridge 1810 from Terre Froide, Morne la Selle, Haiti.
