Discussion
Heretofore, known from the type locality, this plant is now known to be common to both Cuba and Hispaniola. It is characterized by its short, ovate leaves rounded to truncate at base and rounded to very obtuse at apex, whereas all other Antillean species are acute to acuminate at apex and mostly of a lanceolate type.
