Discussion:

Coffea (?) stipulacea DC.. Prodr. 4 : 499. 1830.

Rudgea longistipula Mull.-Arg., Flora 59 : 449. 1876. Psychotria maguirei Standley. Bull. Torrey Club 75: 578

Type. Cayenne, French Guiana, Patris.

The photo of the type of Coffea stipulacea DC. from the Delessert Herbarium of Geneva shows the terminal, costate, oblong-lanceolate, erose-tipped stipule and axillary inflorescence on an elongate peduncle, both diagnostic characters of the species. The elongated peduncle appears to be angled. The primary branches of the inflorescence are 15-22 mm long on the specimen in the photo. Both Rudgea longistipula Mull.-Arg. and Psychotria maguirei Standley, of which I have examined the type collections, are conspecific.
