Description:Species Description - A subsp occidentalis var occidentalis corollis 30-45 mm longis, lobis 16-25 mm longis recedit; praeterea inflorescentiae pedunculo communi 0.5-4 cm longo 15-22-flora, inflorescentiae ramis tribus ad sex 3-20 mm longis in ramos tres principals desinentibus; pedicellis 5-8 mm longis; calyce hypanthioque 2.5-5 mm longo; calycis tubo 1.5-2 mm longo; antheris 4.5-6.5 mm longis.

Discussion:

Type. In forest, Canaobito near Urama, Estado Carabobo, Venezuela, 16 Aug 1926; small tree up to 20 cm diam at base, 6-8 m high; flowers white, H. Pittier 12192 (holotype VEN).

This is the variation of Faramea occidentalis common in Venezuela, Colombia, and British Guiana, in which the corolla-lobes average longer (16-25 mm) and the complete corolla longer (30-45 mm) than in the typical variation from the West Indies.
