    Distribution and Ecology - British Guiana and Bolivar, southeastern Venezuela. BRITISH GUIANA. Membaru-Kurupung trail, rare in Cunuria forest, alt 1000 m, Maguire & Fanshawe 32354; about 1 mile below Kaieteur Falls, Sandwith 1498 (type of F.egregia). VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Carretera El Dorado-Santa Elena de Uairen, Km 109, alt 540 m, Trujillo 3571.

    Type. In deeply wooded gorge about 1 mile below the Kaieteur Falls, Potaro River, British Guiana, 11 Sept 1937, N. Y. Sandwith 1498.

    Since Sandwith’s description, additional material cited above necessitates the following changes and additions: Stipulae in aristas 4-9 mm longas desinentes; corollarum tubo 15-22 mm longo, lobis 16-30 mm longis; fructibus subglobosis 9 mm longis 10 mm latis calyce persistente 2.5 mm longo coronatis.
