This species somewhat resembles C. leptophragma Mull.-Arg., based on Spruce 2486 from “prope Panure ad Rio Vaupes, Brazil,” but the leaves are thinner and with less developed domatia in the lower leaf axils, and with shorter inflorescences than in C. leptophragma.
