Distribution and Ecology - COLOMBIA. Huila: Cordillera Oriental, along trail from Garzon SE about 15 km to Estrella (finca), alt 1630 m, Little 9334; Cauca: along Quebrada de Tierra, above Argelia, alt ca 1600 m, Core 1230.

This species differs from Arachnothrix glabrata in having shorter, oblong or spatulate-oblong rounded to obtuse calyx-lobes which are densely arachnoid-pubescent without, in the densely sordid-arachnoid pubescent hypanthium, and densely arachnoid-pubescent corolla-tube.
