Distribution and Ecology - Foothills of the Cordillera de Santa Marta in Dept. Magdalena and region of Cartagena, Dept. Bolivar, northern Colombia, at low elevations up to 400 m. A specimen collected at Port-of-Spain, Trinidad (Mell) may be cultivated. COLOMBIA. Magdalena: edge of savannah, 10 km N of Codazzi, alt 120 m, Haught 3782; near Rio Frio, foothills of Cordillera de Santa Marta, Pittier 1721; Alto de Minas, between Valledupur and Fundacion, alt ca 400 m, Haught 8907; Bolivar: vicinity of Cartagena, Bro.
