Monographs Details: Utricularia pubescens Sm.
Authority: Maguire, Bassett. 1967. The botany of the Guayana Highland--Part VII. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 17: 1-439.
Description:Distribution and Ecology - Moist rocks, streambanks and savannas from sea level to alt 2120 m, British Guiana, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil, throughout tropical Africa, and recently recorded in India. As thus constituted, U. pubescens is extremely variable, particularly in size of corolla and the relative lengths of spur and lower corolla lip. As I have already stated (P. Taylor, Kew Bull. 18: 101. 1964) although some American forms agree exactly with African ones, some American ones have much larger corollas than any I have seen from the Old World. It may be that when more material is available it will be possible to distinguish the Old and New World plants, if only in infraspecific rank. The variation pattern is a familiar one within the genus.
