    Distribution and Ecology - Damp savannas up to 1220 m Brazil, British and French Guiana and Venezuela. VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Santa Cruz, Rio Atabapo, Rio Atacavi, Foldats 3630 (VEN), 3659 (K)—both specimens have the scapes longer than the other specimens cited (up to 7 cm) but appear to be otherwise identical. BRAZIL, without locality, Sello (K) ; Minas Gerais: Regnell III 843 (P). FRENCH GUIANA, without locality, Melinon (P).

    Utricularia arenicola Tutin var kavanayenu Steyermark, Fieldiana Bot 28: 535 1953

    Type. Venezuela, Bolivar, Gran Sabana, Steyermark 59335 (F, VEN).

    Type. Brazil. Minas Gerais, Surra da Candonga, St. Hilaire (holotype P).

    I am quite unable to find any difference between U. arenicola and var kava- nayena and although the type material of U. nana is scanty it is undoubtedly the same.
