Description
Distribution and Ecology - Damp savannas up to 1220 m Brazil, British and French Guiana and Venezuela. VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Santa Cruz, Rio Atabapo, Rio Atacavi, Foldats 3630 (VEN), 3659 (K)—both specimens have the scapes longer than the other specimens cited (up to 7 cm) but appear to be otherwise identical. BRAZIL, without locality, Sello (K) ; Minas Gerais: Regnell III 843 (P). FRENCH GUIANA, without locality, Melinon (P).

Discussion
Utricularia arenicola Tutin, Jour. Bot. 72: 312. 1934. Type. British Guiana Kaieteur Savanna, Tutin GOG (BM, K). Utricularia arenicola Tutin var kavanayenu Steyermark, Fieldiana Bot 28: 535 1953 Type. Venezuela, Bolivar, Gran Sabana, Steyermark 59335 (F, VEN). Type. Brazil. Minas Gerais, Surra da Candonga, St. Hilaire (holotype P).I am quite unable to find any difference between U. arenicola and var kava- nayena and although the type material of U. nana is scanty it is undoubtedly the same.
