    Utricularia meyeri Pilger, Bot. Jahrb. 30: 194. 1901. Type. Brazil, Matto Grosso, H. Meyer 730 (? B†).

Utricularia spicata Sylven, Ark. Bot. Stockh. 8(6): 14. 1908. Type. Brazil, Matto Grosso, Malme II 3511 (S).

Type. Brazil, Espirito Santo, Guapari, St. Hilaire s.n. (holotype P, isotype K)

Now that more material is available the differences between U. meyeri Pilger and U- spicata Sylven given by Sylven no longer hold and an examination of the type of U. erectiflora proves it to be the same. There is a considerable variation in the number and size of the flowers, as in many Utricularia species.
