Description:Distribution and Ecology - Moist pockets of sand among rocks by the middle and upper Orinoco. VENEZUELA. Discussion:

Type. Venezuela, Amazonas, Orinoco River below mouth of Rio Sanariapo, Steyermark 58445 (holotype F).

Very closely related to G. guianensis but that species has hairs on the bracts and calyx only while G. sanariapoana has a dense covering of hairs and gland-tipped hairs all over the upper part of the inflorescence.
