Discussion:

Hippomane biglandulosa Aublet, Hist. Pl. Guiane 2: 885. 1775.

Sapium biglandulosum var aubletianum Mull.-Arg., Linnaea 32: 117. 1S63.

Type. “Guayana gallica” Aublet. Muller-Argoviensis based his var aubletianum on Hippomane biglandulosa Aublet not mentioning Spruce 3198. so the type is clearly the Aublet specimen, not Spruce 3198. Later (in DC., Prodr. 15(2): 1205. 1885) Muller-Argoviensis cited Spruce 3198 from the upper Rio Negro in addition to Aublet's specimen under his Excoecaria biglandulosa var aubletiana, thereby expanding the concept.
