Nassau, forest on plateau, Km 7.2, 10 Mar 1949, Lanjouw & Lindeman 2571 (NY); Mt. Nassau, in mountain forest, Km 11.6, 16 Mar 1949, Lanjouw & Lindeman 2735 (NY). FRENCH GUIANA. Infrequent in forest on bauxite, Montagne de Law, alt 220-270 m 12-14 Dec 1954, Cowan 38748-A, 38815 (NY).

    Type. Surinam river, forest reserve Brownsberg, tree n. 1146 Hb B.W n 6687, fl. 31 Oct 1924 (type in Utrecht).

    This species is related to M. elata (Didrichs) Mull.-Arg. of southern Brazil, from which it differs by the lack of glands or their indistinctness at the base of the blade.
