    Distribution and Ecology - Besides the type from Casiquiare it has been collected in the riverine forest in the western part of lower Rio Negro. VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Maroa, Rio Guainia, alt 127 m, 13 Feb 1942, Williams 14319 (sterile except for one juv. fr. NY). BRAZIL. Amazonas: Insula Xibaru prope Sao Joaquin, Rio Negro, 8 Aug 1931, Ducke 23750 (female spec, one fr., NY).

    Type. Casiquiare river, Spruce 3457. Not seen.

    A poorly known species. The original description was based on a type without flowers, but with young unripe seeds.
