Bur. =Tynnanthus labiatus (Cham.) Miers. The small white strongly bilabiate flowers of Tynnanthus are unmistakable. It is also characterized by reflexed anther thecae, a pubescent ovary, usually trifid tendrils, a vegetative clove odor and lack of both nectariferous disc and interpetiolar glandular fields. The fruit is linear with raised, often winged margins. Tynnanthus ranges from the Yucatan Peninsula and Hispaniola to Bolivia and Brazil.
