  • Discussion

    5. Tabebuia subtilis Sprague & Sandwith, Kew Bull. 1932: 23. 1932. Type. Br. Guiana, Kuratung River, Alston 353 (K). Two forms of this species occur in Guayanan Venezuela. The easternmost collections [Gentry et al 10521, 10545 (MO)] agree with the type from Guyana in a dense leaf indumentum of sessile stellate trichomes. The western collections from the Rio Caroni region are glabrescent and mostly 3-foliolate. Two distinct taxa may be represented, but description of a new entity seems inadvisable at present.
