Pichon =D. stipularis (Mart, ex DC.) A. Gentry. I have recently expanded this genus to include several monotypic segregates (Gentry, 1974b). It is characterized by magenta to cream ''Anemopaegma-type'' flowers with a straight corolla tube and cupular truncate calyx, trifid tendrils, 6-angled branchlets, absence of interpetiolar glandular fields and oblong or elliptic woody-valved fruits. It ranges through most of tropical America including the West Indies.
