    2. Anemopaegma karstenii Bureau & K. Schumann, Mart. Fl. Bras. 8(2): 130. 1896. Type. Venezuela: Puerto Cabello, Karsten sn (not seen). Anemopaegma carrerense Armitage, Jour. Bot. 36: 188. 1898. Lectotype. Trinidad: Island of Carrera, Armitage sn (K). This species has been generally known as A. carrerense. The type on which Bureau & K. Schumann's older epithet was based has not been seen but the description proves its identity. The species is common throughout Venezuela and reaches 1200 m altitude on the Gran Sabana.
