1. Anemopaegma chrysoleucum (Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth) Sandwith, Lilloa 3: 459. 1938. Bignonia chtysoleuca H.B.K., Nov. Gen. Sp. PI. 3: 134. 1819. Type. Colombia: Río Magdalena, Humboldt & Bonpland 1576 (P). Anemopaegma grandiflorum Sprague, Trans. Proc. Edinburgh Bot. Soc. 22: 434. 1905. Type. Trinidad, Damouse 6812 (K). This widespread lowland species is characterized by glabrous corolla tube, fohaceous pseudostipules, and unwinged seeds. The southern Venezuelan form, which reaches an altitude of 450 m at the edge of the Guayana Highland, has much more coriaceous leaves than the typical plant which ranges from Central America to northern Venezuela (probably also Trinidad) and south to Amazonian Peru. The lowland Guianan and Amazonian A. paraense Bur. & K. Schum. was considered conspecific by Sandwith but probably deserves specific recognition.
