25. Xylophragma Sprague in Hooker, Ic. PI. tab 2770. 1903. Type. X. pratense (Bur. & K. Schum.) Sprague. This genus is characterized by its dendroid trichomes, the presence of interpedolar glandular fields, the puberulous magenta corolla, simple tendrils, and an oblong woody compressed fruit. It occurs from Mexico to Brazil and Bolivia, a single species barely reaching the Guayana Highland.
