This genus is unique in its pellucid-punctate leaves. It is also characterized by white or magenta ''Anemopaegma-type" flowers, an irregularly 2-5-labiate of expanded calyx, terete often hollow branchlets, and a very thin linear terete fruit. The tendrils may be simple or trifid. The genus occurs from southern Mexico through most of Brazil, a single species reaching Guayana.
