  • Discussion

    18. Pleonotoma Miers, Proc. Roy. Hort. Soc. 3: 184. 1863. Lectotype. P. jasminifolia (H. B. K.) Miers. Pleonotoma is unmistakable on account of its acutely tetragonal branchlets and biternate to multiply compound leaves. It has trifid tendrils and lacks interpetiolar glandular fields. The inflorescence is a raceme and the ''Anemopaegma-type"" (rarely elongate salverform) flowers are white to light yellow with a well developed disc and cupular 5-denticulate calyx. The fruit is linear to linear oblong. It ranges from Guatemala to Brazil and Bolivia.
