This ditypic genus is characterized especially by its appressed-conical pseudostipules. The magenta flowers are intermediate between ''Anemopaegma-type'' and "Pithecoctenium-type,'' the calyx is campanulate, interpetiolar glandular fields are lacking, and the tendril is minutely bifid. The linear fruit is sandpapersurfaced and usually subterete. It occurs from Mexico to Brazil and Bolivia.
