5. Distictella porphyrotricha Sandwith in Steyermark, Bol. Soc. Venez. Ci. Nat. 25(106): 48. 1963. Type. Venezuela: Bolivar, Steyermark & Aristeguieta 98 (K, US). Another endemic highland species, D. porphyrotricha occurs sympatrically with D. obovata. The distinctive pubescence of the vegetative parts and inflorescence characterizes it.
