Discussion
1. Arrabidaea candicans (L. C. Richard) de Candolle, Prodr. 9: 185. 1845. Bignonia candicans L. C. Rich., Act. Soc. Hist. Nat. Paris 1: 110. 1792. Type. French Guiana, LeBlond sn (P). This widespread primarily lowland species is characterized by its canescent leaf indumentum. The Guayana form is the typical one with almost pure white leaflet undersurfaces. The Highland collections have contracted pedicels and peduncles, the inflorescences thus similar to those of A. conjugata (Vell.) Mart. Recent collections include Tillett & Tillett 45317 and 45858, both from the upper Mazaruni River Basin of Guyana, the latter from 550-650 m altitude, and Maguire et al 53639 from the Rio Chicanan, Cerro Piton, 400 m, Bolivar, Venezuela.
