    7. Symplocos jauaensis Steyermark & Maguire, Mem. N. Y. Bot. Gard. 23: 876. 1972. Type. Shrub 2 m high, leaves coriaceous, strongly revolute, corolla white, 1900-2100 m alt, Cerro Jaua, Estado Bolivar, Venezuela, 22-27 Mar 1967, Julian A. Steyermark 98072 (holotype VEN, isotype NY). Symplocos jauaensis obviously is closely related to the next, S. neblinae, as is indicated by general flower form and pubescence. They differ in the somewhat larger flowers of the latter, but strikingly in their dissimilar leaves. Those of S. jauaensis are coriaceous, revolute, oblong with rounded or obtuse apexes. The leaves of S. neblinae are chartaceous, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, with abruptly conduplicate-acuminate apexes.
