Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA: Amazonas: summit of Cerro Parú, Serrania Paru, Feb 1951, Cowan & Wurdack 31:285 (type collection). Apparently endemic to Cerro Paru, growing in thickets in rocky scrubsavanna.

The solitary flowers of this species separate it from all others in the genus; the strongly hispid character of the vegetative parts is also distinctive.
