Discussion:This is a rare species, described originally from southeastern Brazil and hitherto unknown, so far north; it is the first report of the plant in Venezuela. It matches the type photograph well and it is surely conspecific with the Gardner collection cited by Bentham, two sheets of which are in the herbarium of The New York Botanical Garden.
