Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Rio Guainia, south of Maroa, Maguire & Wurdack 36439 (NY); Rio Orinoco, Sabanita Morocoto, Wurdack & Adderly 42696 (GH); Rio Orinoco, above Tama-Tama, Wurdack & Adderly 43120 (GH); Rios Pacimoni-Yatua, Casiquiare, Sabanita, Laja 50 km above mouth of Río Pacimoni, Maguire et al 36666 (F, GM); Sabana de Morocoto, west of Cerro Morocoto, below San Fernando de Atabapo, Silverio Level L-16 (NY).

Discussion:Size data on this species has been lacking and the collectors cited above report this to be a tree 4-7 m tall. It was collected in flower in April, May, June and November. The first record of fruit was made in November. The fruit is depressed, 1 cm high, and 1.5 cm in diameter. The calyx is centric but the stylar rudiment eccentric. The putamen is rugose and undulate margined. The fresh fruit is black. The holotype of this species is Ducke 11367 (US 1473378) from the state of Para in Brazil
