Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. VENEZUELA. Territorio Amazonas, Cerro Duida: Peak 7, 7100 ft alt, Tate 1022 (holotype NY, 2 sheets); Burned Mountain, Ridge 22A, at 6300 ft alt, Tate 1023 (NY).

5b. Heliamphora tatei Gleason var macdonaldae (Gleason) Maguire, stat nov Heliamphora macdonaldae Gleason. Bull. Torrey Club 58: 367. 1931. Type. Top of Peak No. 7, Mount Duida at 7100 ft alt, Aug 1928-Apr 1929, G. H. H. Tate 1022 (holotype NY). Known only by two collections, both from Cerro Duida, it seems best to hold these specimens that are internally glabrous on the upper portion of the pitcher as a variety of the otherwise widespread prevalent pubescent populations.
