Description:Latin Diagnosis - A. P. racemoso (Aubl.) Kr. & Urb. et P. pteroneuro Eichl. dignoscitur foliis obovatis fere prorsus nullinervis siccitate sordide vel fusco-luteis. Etiam a priore cataphyllis nonnisi basalibus ramisque hand repetite dichotomis, ab altero cataphyllaribus vaginis vulgo 2. Fruticulus totus fusco-luteus, ramis teretibus leviter nodosis, frequenter bifurcatis, apicem versus cum ramulis compresso-ancipitibus; internodiis 3-7 cm longis, sub nodis modice ampliatis. Cataphyllares vaginae 2 ad internodium infimum, una basali alteraque ad 2 cm altius inserta, minutae, in denticulos minimos divisae. Folia inter ellipticum et obovatum ludentia, ampla, tenuiter coriacea, sub lente rugosula et nitidula, paene nervis deficientia vel obsoletissime penninervia, nervis lateralibus 4 obliquis, margine cartilagineo parum perspicuo cincta, 7-10 cm longa, 3-5.5 cm lata; petiolus limbo marginatus, 6-10 mm longus. Spicae 1-2-nae in axillis, 4-6-articulatae, 2-3 cm longae, graciles; pedunculus 2-4 mm longus, vaginis sterilibus 1-2 ornatus; articuli breves, ad medium incrassati, crasse fusiformes, 4-6 mm longi, feminei (qui solum visi) 10-14-flori, floribus quadriseriatis.

Discussion:Type. Rio Araguari, 5 hours above Rio Murure, Brazil, 130 m, 23 Aug 1961, J., M. Pires, W. Rodrigues & G. C. Irvine 50445 (holotype RB, isotype NY). Distinctive by the large, elliptical-obovate leaves which bear pinnate, almost indistinct nerves.
