    Distribution and Ecology - SURINAM. Forested slopes 4 km southwest of Juliana Top, 10 km north of Lucie River, 325 m, 31 Aug 1963, Irwin et al 55187.

  • Discussion

    Leaves oblong- or ovate-lanceolate, mostly falcate, the stomata very small and hard to watch. Corolla orange below, yellow above. Previously known only from Brazilian Amazon, now in Surinam. Piaui's plants, akin to this species, were formerly referred to this species by Eichler, but it has been demonstrated that they belong to a distinct species, namely P. piauhyensis Rizz. (see Rodriguesia 41: 9. 1976).
