Inter Vittoria et Bahia, Brasilia meridionalis, Sellow (holotype B, photo
H. Pfeiffer in his revision of Becquerelia took B. discolor out and placed it
in the genus Scleria. But the spikelets of this species have several empty glumes
between the pistillate and staminate spikelets, showing that the plant properly
belongs to Becquerelia. The leaves with a petiole-shaped base and slender short
culms are unusual in the genus Becquerelia, and m a y suggest a certain taxonomic
link between the genera Becquerelia and Bisboekelera
