Description
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Slender herb less than 1 m high, summits of Roraima and Auyantepui.VENEZUELA. Estado Bolivar, Roraima: Mount Roraima Expedkion, Autumn 1894, Quelch & McConnell 101 (K, NY); summit, flowers red, 28 Nov 1927, Tate 442 (NY); herb 2 ft high, corolla pink with crimson lines; anthers deep chrome, 8700 ft alt, 7 Jan 1939, Pinkus 117 (NY); summit, 2560-2620 m alt, 27 Sep 1944, Steyermark 58794 (F, NY); Lloyd 51 (NY). Auyan-tepui: crece en el cañon de la parte superior, 2300 m alt, Apr 1956, Vareschi & Foldats 4917 (NY, VEN); leaves subcoriaceous, corolla deep orchid-rose with pale whitish spots; base of moist zanjon below El Libertador, 2050-2300 m alt, 15 May 1964, Steyermark 93965 (NY, VEN).
