  The genus Stegolepis, like liapatca, has evolved perhaps 20 species. But unlike the latter, which has a broad distribution chiefly extra-Guayanan and at low altitudes, Stegolepis is confined to the Roraima Sediments at relatively high (400-2000 m) elevations. Taxonomic consideration of this rather complex genus is to be presented in a forthcoming issue of the Memoirs.
