Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. VENEZUELA. Estado Bolívar: Ptari-tepui, Steyermark 59730 (holotype US, isotypes F, NY); Ptari-tepui, 14 Nov 1944, Steyermark 60139 (F); shrub 2.5 m high, Salto Churin, Auyan-tepui, 1850 m alt, 5 May 1964, Steyermark 93392 (NY, VEN); small tree 4 m high, leaves brittle, occasional below escarpment, Brocchinia-scrub type, 7000-8000 ft elev, Ilu-tepuí, 17 Mar 1952, Maguire 33456 (NY, VEN, US).

Shrubby, 4-6 ft tall, leaves coriaceous-chartaceous, corolla green, anthers buff-yellow, Bonnetia roraimae forest, 2000-2200 m alt, Ptari-tepui, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela, 2 Nov 1944, Julian A. Steyermark 59730 (holotype US, isotypes F, NY). Variable, the specimens from Auyan-tepui are small-leaved, those of Ilu-tepuí large-leaved. Populations from these two mountains and from the type locality, Ptari-tepuí, may represent three distinct races, but more field observation and materials are necessary by which to make such evaluation.
