Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Only known from Territorio Amazonas, Venezuela and Amazonas, Brazil. VENEZUELA. Territorio Amazonas: small tree, along Yapacana caño from laguna to mouth, 125 m alt, fruit 21 Mar 1953, Maguire et al 34618 (FHO, NY); small tree, occasional, Rio Pacimoni, between Caño Arapacua and Caño Boridahari, 120 m alt, fruit 7 Apr 1953, Maguire et al 34907 (FHO, NY).

Discussion:1. Lissocarpa benthamii Giirke in Engler & Prantl, Nat. Pflanzenf. 4(1): 180. 1891; Oliver in Hook. Ic. PL 25: t. 2413. 1895. Type. 'San Carlos, ad rivuli ostiam inundatum,' Territorio Amazonas, Venezuela ('Brasilia borealis'), Oct 1853, with male flowers. Spruce 3108 (lectotype K; isolectotypes F, NY). This species is closely related to L. guianensis Gleason (Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 53: 296. 1926), which is only known from Guyana.
