Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. The typical subspecies is widespread in lowland rain forest in Guyana, Surinam, Guyane Française and the states of Amapa, Para and Amazonas in Brazil. SURINAM. Shrub 3 m high, flowers white, fruit yellow, Saramacca River, near Brokolonka, 14 Jun 1944, Maguire 23799a (FHO); tree 10 m high, 25 cm diam, on forested slopes 1.5 km southeast of Juliana Top, near headwaters of West River, 500-800 m alt, Wilhelmina Gebergte, 26 Aug 1963, Irwin et al 55070 (FHO).
