Description:Genus Description - Lianas, shrubs, vines or herbs, the stems woody or herbaceous. Leaves variable, entire to lobed, simple to compound; pseudostipules rarely present. Flowers axillary, solitary or in few- to many-flowered cymes, sometimes aggregated within an involucre. Sepals variable in size and shape, often unequal, foliaceous or coriaceous. Corollas regular, mostly funnelform, also campanulate to salverform, variously colored. Stamens included or exserted; pollen spinose or spinulose, pantoporate. Ovary 2-, 3- or 4- to rarely 5-locular, usually 4-ovulate, but sometimes 6 or more ovulate; styles filiform; stigmas biglobose or 3-globose. Capsules ovoid to globose, 3-10-valved. Seeds 1-4(-6), glabrous, pubescent or woolly.
