Monographs Details: Macleania pilgeriana Hoerold
Authority: Smith, Albert C. 1952. Plants collected in Ecuador by W. H. camp. Vaceiniaceae. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 8 (1): 41-85.
Family:Ericaceae
Description:Distribution and Ecology - Pichincha: Paramo west of Quito on Sto. Domingo Road, 11,300 ft. elev., Camp E-1705, E-1710 (shrubs 1-2 m.; corolla deep red).

Discussion:The cited specimens agree well with type material (also from Pichincha) in foliage and in the elongate anther-tubules; I doubt whether this entity should be kept apart from M. rupestris even on a subspecific level.
Distribution:Ecuador South America|
