Family:Ericaceae
Description:Distribution and Ecology - Napo-Pastaza: Valley of the Rio Pastaza and adjacent uplands, Sierra de los Leones, near Baiios, 7,000 ft. elev., Camp E-1697 (NY only) (subepiphytic; flowers coral-red).

Discussion:The cited specimen agrees excellently in detail with the type and only previously known collection, Mathews 1442, from the Department of Amazonas, Peru. In no. 1697 the corolla has a fugacious white puberulence as well as the characteristic and more persistent brownish glandular hairs, this being the only difference noted between it and the type.
