Although Phyllodon now has some definition, and eliminates the use of Glossadelphus, the vast majority of species still need to have a generic placement. Only those taxa for which types have been examined should be treated, and since I have only seen a few types, only those species will be discussed here. The other taxa, mostly Asian in distribution, must await monographic work.

Glossadelphus serrifolius (Broth. & Watts) Broth. (Type: AUSTRALIA. Queensland: Caims District, Millstream Falls, Ravenshoe, Joynt 52(5—isotype, BM!) belongs in Ectropothecium as originally described. Similarly, G. ovalifolius (Besch.) Broth, is best treated as Ectropothecium ovalifolium (Besch.) Buck, comb. nov. (Rhaphidostegium ovalifolium Besch., Ann. Sci. Nat. Bot. VI, 10: 300. 1880. Type: NOSSI-BE. Loucoube, Mar 1851, Boivin s.n.—holotype, BM!). Most of the species currently within Glossadelphus should be transferred to Taxiphyllum.
