Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution: Sumatra, Papua New Guinea, peninsular Malaysia, Bomeo (Fig. 94).Ecology: It usually grows on soil on wet rocks which are periodically inundated. It has been collected between 2900 and 4100 m on Mt. Kinabalu while it has been collected only once from peninsular Malaysia at 1100 m.Specimens examined: MALAYSIA. Trengganu: Gunong Padang, Moysey & Kiah 31024 (sing); Sabah: Mt. Kinabalu, Campylopodes Malaysiae Exsiccatae 8, Campylopodes Exsiccatae 122, 124.
Campylopus macgregorii is usually blackish just as in other Campylopus species which grow in wet habitats. It is characterized by the concolorous leaf tips, elongate upper laminal cells and the incrassate, pitted basal laminal cells.
