    Genus Description - Moderately robust plants in loose, shiny, green or yellowish tufts. Stems erect-ascending, irregularly to subpinnately branched; epidermal cells large and hyaline; pseudoparaphyllia at branch bases. Stems and branches cuspidate at the tips. Stem leaves erect or erect-spreading, those at the tips crowded and imbricate, concave, broadly oblong-ovate or elliptic, rounded and usually bluntly apiculate at the apex, entire; costa none or short and double; upper cells linear-flexuose; alar cells large, thin-walled, and hyaline in conspicuous auricles. Branch leaves narrower, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, blunt or obtuse. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves long-lanceolate, acuminate. Setae long-flexuose, smooth; capsules strongly inchned, curved and asymmetric, ± subcylindric when dry and empty; annulus large; operculum conic, ± apiculate; exostome teeth yellow-brown; cilia of the endostome appendiculate, in groups of 3 or 4.
